Learning 2017 is excited to introduce a high energy set of experiences called "PITCH! for Learning"

There will be several PITCH! for Learning Sessions at Learning 2017 including:

  • Start Up PITCH! for Learning: You will hear short "elevator pitches" from early stage start ups in the Learning or EdTech area.  Ala Shark Tank, we will explore how these makers of learning "apps", systems or tools might eventually impact workplace learning.
  • Reverse PITCH! for Learning: Three Chief Learning Officers will tell a wide range of learning suppliers and vendors about their wish list for new and disruptive learning innovations and technologies.
  • PITCH! for Learning from Other Fields: We will take a deep look at learning innovations that are working in the K to 12 School Area, in Higher Education, Religion or Hobby Areas.  Let's learn, borrow and "steal" learning ideas from other fields.
  • Gadget & Tech Stretch PITCH! for Learning: What about emerging technology from other worlds - Your Alexa from Amazon, FitBit, VR & Mixed Realities, 3D Printing and other technologies - that might be STRETCHED for Learning in the coming years for workplace learning.

Content Map 1.0 :)

Today, we begin the exciting and engaging process of creating and curating the "Content, Themes, Issues, Innovations & Conversations for Learning 2017.

The overall theme for 2017 will be "Learning Changes!"

Based on my on-going dialogues with learning leaders and colleagues around the world, we are clearly living in a time with "Learning Changes".  Changing Learner Expectations, Changing Technology, Changing Workplaces and more.

In the coming weeks, we will develop topics, labs, conversations, controversies and sessions that are fully focused on how Learning Changes in many areas.  Here is our version 1.0 idea map for this year:

We will be building a complete Learning 2017 Agenda and Community Engagement on how Learning Changes in these areas and more.

As you register for Learning 2017, we will reach out for your input, ideas, key challenges and perspectives.

This is the 27th year that I am honored to Host our Learning event.  I invite you to join me in exploring the ways in which Learning Changes! and how we can create the best learning opportunities for our employees and organizations.

Yours in learning.
Elliott Masie

Follow Design Updates!

For the past six years, I have shared an on-going Design Update blog as we have created and produced our annual Learning event in Orlando.

Each week or so, we will share the background on the Design decisions and process, as we focus the themes for Learning 2017, the wide range of Keynoters, the activity and engagement choices and the collective shared design process.

For example, last year, we were asked if we might experiment with a "Learning Escape Room".  So, we reached out to some learning colleagues to help design and produce this at Learning 2016 and some magic happened:

As soon as we announced our plans for a Learning Escape Room, participants shared ideas and their own experiences with adding a more "extreme" experience to a learning activity.  Thanks to this Design Update blog, we were able to engage folks from around the world in the design.

So, check back to the site and you can even ask to receive an email from us or follow us at @learning2017 for updates.
